September Beckoning

Howdy Friends,

I was inspired today on my morning walk and needed to write a little...

Just when I started getting use to this place my friends have decided to leave on a whim.  Gangs of robins and starlings congregate on the field, readied for the flip of a switch.  Whispers of fall already hang in the aspen as Autumn starts to make herself known.

That's all for now.  Hope to see you at the mall pond!

Here We Go

It's weird, a little.  Working more than half my life at a regular job and now, not.  I find myself getting irritated really fast and it's hard to sit still.  I guess not only will I be learning things at school but I'll be learning how to live, not at work.  This is the biggest town I've ever lived in and that's taking some getting use to as well.  Think I'm gonna go take a big dip in grace.  Learn how to be me again.

For everyone that knows me, thanks for being patient with me.  I really have appreciated all the encouragement.

Sincerely,

Link

P.S.  Since I'm not at the green boxes any longer I guess I'll need a new benediction.  Hope to see you at the mall pond I suppose.   Yep.

Hope to see you at the mall pond.

Father's Day 2013

Howdy Friends,

Been busy here getting ready for lots of changes on the horizon.  I'll write more on those later.  Today I just wanted to write a note to my dad.

Happy Father's Day dad!  I love you.  So glad that your my dad.  (As I write this Cora is saying, "Pa Pa, catch!")

Hope to see you below the green boxes,

Dude!

Howdy Friends,

I have a confession to make.  It's been awhile... since I really got excited about food.  (Not sure what that is all about.  Maybe I've been too busy for my own good or something.)  Anyways... Siri was in town yesterday and doing the shopping.  Yeah for Mommy!  Being a health conscious individual, she got me some BBQ sauce that doesn't contain any high fructose corn syrup.  Well, I must say, "She done good!"

This sauce is like putting awesome in your mouth.  It's like finding 40 bucks in the drier.  It's like your 18 month-old daughter decided to use the potty for the rest of her life and take 4 hour naps everyday.

If I was a NASCAR, I'd have this sauce tattooed all over my body.  If I was a piece of chicken, I'd only bathe in this sauce.  I think I've been converted.  Available @ Town and Country.  Guy Fieri Barbeque Sauce Kansas City Smokey & Sweet.

Hope to see you below the green boxes with BBQ Chicken and a Red Lodge Helio.

Hogbows of Promise

Howdy Friends,

Last weekend I got to fish my first tail water fishery in Montana.  Despite the large number of anglers present the water still seemed thick with and even smelled of fish.  Down right hog infested.  I was privileged to accompany friend and Parks Fly Shop pro-staff member Ben Jewell.  He's an excellent fly tier, caster, hog lander, rock jumper,  and all around excellent fisherman.  He also a fishing machine and I'm not sure I've ever fished with his equal.  Well done.

Fishing was great and we got into them right away.  Shrimp and eggs was on the menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Using my 4wt all day I found it hard to land the fish but after some tips from Ben I was able to beach a few.  I'm not gonna lie, my arm still hurt on Tuesday this week.  Below are a few pictures.

It was fun!  These are some of the biggest rainbows I've seen since coming out here.  What a day!  On the way home we got to see some other rainbows and even a funnel cloud.  I got to experience my first thunderstorm of 2013 in Montana.

Thanks Ben for a great day on the water.  Until then hope to see you below the green boxes.

P.S.

Here are a few more random pics from the day.

The Passing

Howdy Friends,

I spent some time on the road last weekend and was watching spring start to overtake the country side.  I got a little inspired to write.

Montana mourns the death of winter and the land is covered with tears. In it's dying, winter gives way to life, as pairs of geese dot the riverside and robins chatter in the willow once again.  Hints of spring appear and lift the green veil as subtle as a sunrise.

That's all for now.

Hope to see you below the green boxes.

I Saw the Light

Howdy Friends,

In real life he doesn't light up but I guess he could if I started getting the right junk.  More fun with Photoshop below.

A Response of Sorts

Howdy Friends from the shop!

Recently I was reading Psalm 91 (NIV) and was motivated to write.   I'm really not sure what it is that I wrote, maybe a paraphrase?  Anyway, here's my response to reading Psalm 91.  What's your response to this Psalm?   What does it say to you?  Email me and if you want I'll post your response.

Enjoy!

God’s house is perfectly awesome and protected.  You don’t have to worry about anything when you’re there because you’re totally and completely safe.  He’s inviting you and everyone to come live there with Him.  You can count on Him for this because He has never broken a promise, not once.
We are under attack!  All around us there are threats of death and destruction.  Temptations steal your mind away with a grin all the while plotting to kill you.  Death!  Sickness! Catastrophe!  Panic!  Everything we know and worked for, laid to waste.  Oh what can we do!
Again I say, God’s house is perfectly awesome and protected.  You can live there.  He’s actually inviting you to live with Him.  You are not doomed or rejected.  He’s got angels to help you, you know.  He will hold your hand when you need it.  He loves you… even likes you.  You aren’t all by yourself in life.  You’re not alone.  All of these scary things fade away when He rescues you.  “Come follow me”, He says.  “Come get to know me.  I will save you.”

Being Remade

 Howdy Friends,

Well the black-hole-of-time called Photoshop was at it again this week... I have heard it said that transformation is a process not a product.  I couldn't help but think of this truth while I was working on the pictures below.  The photos show the transformation from the original picture to the re-created picture in the end.  Kind of fun to look at and think about.  Enjoy.

Gillian Gardiner Style

Howdy Friends!

Like Gillian Welch?  I hope you've had a chance to listen to a song or two of hers.  Really good stuff!  I was feeling inspired yesterday and recorded a version of one of her songs called One More Dollar.  I changed the lyrics around a little to make it personal to me and also to Gardiner.  My 15 month-old helped me out a little on the back up vocals.  Thanks sweetie!

So here's One More Dollar, Gardiner style.

Fun with Photoshop

Howdy Friends,

Recently I received Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for my birthday.  (Thanks Mom!)  It's a comprehensive program to say the least with unlimited creative possibilities.  Note to self, this could become a black-hole vortex of time.  Noted.

Last weekend my family and I made an afternoon trip into the park.  I was able to snap some pictures with the intent of "tweaking" them a bit later.  This morning I got a little time and had some fun.  Below are some selected before and after images of our outing.

Enjoy!

That's all for now.  Hope to see you below the green boxes.

Follow Me

Howdy Friends!

We are already into the second period of the year...  geez where did that go?  I wish I could tell you I was out rippin lips like my hog catchin', monster grabbin', sweet fly makin' buddy Satoshi was doin', but alas I'm unable to do so.  Holy cow!  Some of those pictures remind me of the mythical beast of lore!  You should check out his posts if you have a little time.

I did change 5 poopy diapers this month!  That counts for something, right?

Well, I have been working on a project of the map kind.  I found a fun idea for a map and applied it to Yellowstone.  I'm happy with how it turned out.  I'll play with it a little more this week...  who knows, maybe we could get it on a T-Shirt.

That's about all for now.  It's warm today, and when the baby goes down for a nap, I may sneak down to the confluence to see what's going on.

Until then,

I hope to see you below the green boxes.

Frozone

Howdy Friends,

Got out today for the first time this year.  It was a little warm...  32.  Hey,  I'll take what I can get.  Not much action at the confluence.  Didn't see much of anything.  The picture below pretty much sums it up for the day.

Hope to see you below the green boxes,

Thomas Morrow

Howdy Friends,

I've been feeling a bit underwhelmed recently and did a little writing.  Not sure if I like it yet but hope it strikes a chord.

Thomas Morrow the Procrastinator

This Friday I must turn it in

The project I'm working on

Dread is building a sandcastle this Monday

I can ignore you but you're not really gone

Forget you for a moment

For better

But for worse

Thomas Morrow where is your crown?

We pay you such dues

More like King Nothing I say

Lets pretend like we never have met.

Pine Creek Show 1/4/13

Me (left) and Singer Songwriter Kurt Prond (right)

Thanks to everyone who made it out last Friday to the Cafe'.  We sure appreciate your support.  It was a ton of fun playing with Kurt again.  Thanks Kurt for the invitation and opportunity.  Below are a few of the songs we did.  One, The Great Northern Gale, is an original piece from Kurt.  Enjoy!
